hey there.

I’m T.K., a girl rolling aroundLA by bicycle, navigating the City of Angels… come along for the ride.

Okay, now that I’ve rambled enough (making what was supposed to be an intro into its on blog post), let’s get to what I originally sat down to be writing about as I headed back up to my hotel suite, after having a late evening Moroccan tea.

First Day Exploring Morocco

I know I labeled the first entry as “day 1", but today is the real day one. (Whenever going somewhere with a minimum 16-hour flight, it’s wise to add a “travel day” on both the front and back end of your trip.) When I landed in Casablanca, after my layover in Paris, I only walked around the corner from where I’m staying to buy a phone charger and power adapter (“American” plugs don’t fit into the wall outlets here). I came back inside before nightfall.

Today, I took about a 30-minute walk to the coast, and stood mesmerized by the grandiose of one of the most beautiful religious buildings in the world, as the raging waters of the Atlantic hit the wall beneath my feet.

While there, at the Hassan II Mosque, I was swiftly approached by a native woman that wouldn’t let me turn down her offer to decorate my hand and forearm with henna. After walking along, and staring into, the deep blue ocean for hours, I noticed the sun was no longer high up in the sky and decided to start making my way back home. I took a different route than the one I’d taken to get there, and there aren’t any street signs in this ancient city, so I didn’t exactly know where I was going the whole time, but the shop owner’s along the way were very nice and helpful.

I asked a Moroccan food blogger on Twitter if their traditional tea is high in caffeine, and I think I’ve gotten my answer because it’s 7:56am now and sleepiness only started to hit me a moment ago. (Note: I started working on this before midnight. Y’all thought I was exaggerating when I said hours and hours?)

Looks like I’ll be missing the “free” breakfast I paid for because as soon as I close this laptop computer, I’m DIVING in bed. Do you hear me?!
