Feb 6 Back At That Ramen Spot Again, But This Time NO Ramen

As much as I like to explore, at my core, I’m still a creature of habit. Only a few blog posts ago, I told you how a ramen spot did exactly what I needed it to do. Well, I continued going back to that ramen bar and ordering my same spicy miso ramen, or their “famous black ramen”; I’m not sure I can distinguish between the two, but some days it doesn’t hit the way I need it to. A few visits ago, I decided to try something different on their menu. For one reason, it seems like a bit of a waste for me to pay $17+tax for ramen and not eat the most expensive ingredient: a thick slab of pork. And for another, I eat out too much, and don’t make enough money for my behavior, so I needed to get the cheapest thing on the menu that could possible fill me up.

I decided to try a fried chicken sandwich at a ramen and sushi restaurant.

Today was probably my 4th time having it, and though they left it in the grease too long today, or the grease wasn’t as fresh as it usually is, I still enjoyed that got darn fried chicken sandwich. I wish you could see me shaking my head with a “mm! mm! mm!” sentiment. I wasn’t expecting a ramen and sushi restaurant to make such a good fried chicken sandwich.

The fried chicken sandwich at La Brea Ramen and Sushi is the least expensive item on the menu, at $10.95, that actually has some weight to it. And even though it’s filling, it’s not super heavy. I don’t know how Asian cuisine does that, but I like it! Their fare is often satisfying, yet light.

I’m calling the thing a fried chicken sandwich, because that’s what it is, but the official name on the menu is “tori chicken sando”.

Every single day, the cost of living goes up right in front of my eyes, and this fried chicken sandwich from La Brea Ramen and Sushi is a prime example. I told you all it’s the least expensive menu item at $10.95, and that’s true… However, it used to be less! I’m not talking, “oh when I was a child” type less; I’m talking last week type less! I promise the last time I had that fried chicken sandwich from La Brea Ramen and Sushi, it was $9.95.

Okay, you rich person, maybe a dollar increase on a sandwich isn’t a lot to you, but I was hurt when 5-dollar footlongs from Subway were no longer 5 dollars.

The menu page on the La Brea Ramen and Sushi website still has the tori chicken sando listed below 9 dollars. Ugh! I wish the La Brea Ramen and Sushi location nearest my house still sold it for that price. They must’ve caught on that it’s popular. What do businesses do when they know the customer will pay more? Ding, ding, ding! They charge more.

I am NOT endorsing La Brea Ramen and Sushi, even though this is my second blog post about this local spot for popular Asian fare in Los Angeles. It’s just much easier to post a quick blog about them because I’m just yapping off the top of my head after eating. The name of their Asian restaurant, La Brea Ramen and Sushi, may also be good for my SEO.

I don’t mean to be repetitive, but I am trying to rank higher on Google and that tricky little Ms. Algorithm likes repetition. If this is your first time here, no worries, I don’t mind repeating that this is a personal Los Angeles lifestyle and travel blog. As I explore, you do too!

Even though I was not happy to pay more, I enjoyed another quick visit to La Brea Ramen and Sushi, and if I’m being honest with myself, I’ll probably be back more than I should.
